The aim of the Mathematics Department is for every pupil, whatever her age or ability, to fulfil her mathematical potential. Our team of Mathematics specialists strive to achieve this aim by enforcing high standards and by delivering enthusiastic, high-quality teaching which provides our students with the skills and understanding they will need for their journey through life. All of our classrooms have interactive whiteboards and both teachers and pupils use mathematical software to bring subject areas to life.
Students are set from Year 7 which ensures that all pupils receive the correct level of stretch, challenge and support. Students that struggle with Mathematics are supported fully and are never left to fall behind. We have an active and dynamic intervention strategy which is supported by an award-winning inclusion team.
Learning does not stop with the bell! We offer an extensive range of extra-curricular enrichment activities to support the development of our students. These activities both consolidate and extended our pupils’ learning. During the exam season we provide Additional Study Sessions during the weekends and the holidays. These are well-attended and have overwhelmingly positive effects on the students’ exam results.
A-Level Mathematics is a popular choice at Belvedere, and for a good reason. Our team of highly-qualified A-Level teachers offer a level of passion and enthusiasm for the subject which is hard to find elsewhere. In addition to the compulsory Core modules, we offer Statistics modules which are of great use to those studying Sciences and Social Sciences.
Unlike many school in Merseyside, we are able to offer Further Mathematics as part of a four A-Level package. In Year 12, students study Decision, Mechanics and Further Pure. In Year 13, the students choose which modules they would like to study.
