About Us

Belvedere Academy

Be Brave, Be Bold, Be Belvedere isn’t just a slogan, it’s the beating heart of the Belvedere community.

150 Years Forward

Young women have been educated at Belvedere for nearly 150 years.

The original school was founded by a group of women who refused to put up with a society where only boys were able to access a high quality education.

Instead, they created an education delivered by women which put women and girls first.

The school they founded sat within the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), just as Belvedere does today.

The Girls' Day Schools Trust

GDST has been championing girls’ education for 150 years in its 25 schools across the UK.

The GDST’s values: Girls First, Fearless, Forward Thinking, Family and Fulfilling chime with our school culture and reflect one collective desire: to provide the very best possible education for the whole child producing changemakers who can go into society ready to lead a successful life and to make a difference.

Our top line has to be that we treat everyone as individuals; we strive to ensure our pupils, staff and families feel like they belong and that they matter.

Diverse and Vibrant

Since 2007, Belvedere has been proud to be a diverse and vibrant all ability academy where girls are encouraged to think independently and achieve without limits.

Remaining part of GDST ensures that our school is ambitious for every child, encouraging all our pupils to be aspirational.

GDST are world leaders in understanding how girls learn and what girls want from their education.

Our pupils benefit from a range of Trust-wide activities in sport, music, the arts, debating and leadership.

Membership of a nationwide, values-led, girls only educational trust which engages in research shared through the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools makes us unique in Liverpool and in the North West and ensures that we are always striving to be exceptional.
