Relationships, Sex and Health Education

Years 12-13

At Belvedere Sixth Form, our mission is to ensure that all students grow up healthy, happy and safe – fully equipped to navigate both the exciting opportunities and the complex challenges of modern Britain.

As our students step into young adulthood, our RSE provision evolves with them. We actively engage with our Sixth Formers to ensure their changing needs are met, delivering a mature, age-appropriate curriculum that prepares them for life beyond Belvedere. This includes a dynamic programme of half-termly guest speakers, workshops and specialist events specifically designed to prepare students for their next steps.

Preparing for the Future: Our Post-16 Curriculum

In line with the Department for Education’s statutory guidelines, our Relationships, Sex and Health Education is tailored to equip young adults with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their wellbeing, health, and relationships.

Moving away from lower-school basics, the Sixth Form curriculum focuses on autonomy, critical thinking and adult life skills. We aim to provide the vital information young people need to foster healthy, nurturing relationships of all kinds.

Our bespoke, preventative curriculum covers:

  • Professional & Personal Boundaries: Understanding what healthy and unhealthy relationships look like, and what makes a good friend, a supportive colleague, and a partner in a successful marriage or committed relationship.
  • Intimate Relationships: Equipping students with the knowledge they need to make safe, consensual, informed, and healthy choices as they progress into adult life.
  • Safety & Digital Literacy: Navigating online media safely and responsibly as young adults.
  • Financial Literacy & Independence: Understanding the practicalities of adult life, from managing personal finances to understanding independence.

Our Goal: By the time our students complete their Sixth Form studies, they leave us not just with excellent academic qualifications, but as confident, informed citizens ready to build a successful, safe and fulfilling adult life.
