In the months leading up to the September of your child’s entry into Belvedere, we enable several opportunities for her to come and join us at the academy. As well as city-wide induction events, we also run one to one meetings, sessions on reading and attendance and Summer School. Once at Belvedere, her feet won’t touch the ground – Belvedere life moves at a very fast pace. Her Form Teacher and Head of Year will focus on ensuring all pupils settle quickly and subject staff also integrate activities into academic lessons to help our new pupils get to know each other. Year 7 have their own lunchtime to give them space in the middle of the day, and our personal development programme and RISE activities use play to ensure everyone has a fun start to the day.

For any pupils who are finding settling difficult, our Pastoral Staff are easily available for a chat or a face to face meeting; Senior Staff are on the front door every day and can quickly solve problems. In addition Peer Mentor and Sixth Form Prefects are on hand to help.

All pupils in Years 7 to 11 inclusive hand their phones in to their Form Tutor at the beginning of the day and collect them at the end. Pupils embrace this policy and it means that break and lunchtimes are filled with lively chatter and social interaction.

Monday to Thursday: 8.35am to 3.10pm
Friday: 8.35pm to 2.45pm

All pupils should be onsite by 8.30am to ensure that they arrive at registration for 8.35am. Pupils can arrive anytime after 7.30am.

From 7.30am until 5pm every day. All pupils can access the library at break and lunchtime as well.

There is no formal homework timetable as such but the expectation is that each pupil in Year 7 should receive 40-60 minutes each evening of homework, predominantly in their core subjects. We ask staff not to ask for homework to be handed in the next day and encourage staff not to set homework during holiday periods.

Not in Year 7; pupils are placed in mixed ability groups. When pupils reach Year 10 there is setting in English, Maths and Science.

Anytime after 7.30am

Every pupil at Belvedere must bring a school bag to school every day. This should contain a pencil case with basic equipment in, a water bottle, their planner (provided by the academy) and anything else they may need for the day.

On the days when your child has PE, they may wear their PE kit to school. They must also wear their blazer.

Yes! We love our blazer – it is also really useful for keeping personal items in the pockets – make sure it is clearly labelled with your child’s name.

Yes, absolutely. They will need to ask their teacher and will be given a yellow lanyard to show they have permission to be out of the lesson. If this gets to be a problem, then your child’s Head of Year will contact you – feel free to contact them if you need to discuss this at all.
