Years 7-11
We all need support from time to time if we are going to be brave and bold, so at Belvedere we have invested in a large and highly skilled Pastoral Team.
Form Tutors
This starts with our Form Tutors who stay with their forms from Year 7 to Year 11, and again throughout Sixth Form.
Miss. Devine, Head of Year 7, is an expert in ensuring your daughter’s journey at Belvedere starts successful; then, when she hands over to your daughter’s Head of Year 8, that Head of Year leads their year group throughout Senior School, delivering her safely into the hands of our wonderful Sixth Form team at the start of Year 12.
To support our Heads of Year, we have two Learning Mentors, Miss. Ali and Miss. Wormald, and a Family Liaison Officer, Mrs Needham who is also part of an Attendance Team led by Dr Atkins. Mrs. McNeil and Miss. Chesters are also on hand in Student Services for all day to day queries.
Up in Student Support, our SENCO, Mrs. Adam, and Assistant SENCO, Mrs. Lawson are ably supported by 10 Teaching Assistants. The Student Support base is in a beautiful and calm part of the school with wonderful views over Princes Park and beyond – it truly is a place to regulate and be supported for all our pupils who need a bit of extra support and time.
Mrs Marshall, Designated Safeguarding Lead, leads a team of 6 other DSLs to ensure our pupils feel safe and learn to live safely as they navigate the challenges of growing up.
Key Worker programme
Unique to Belvedere is the Key Worker programme. Over 40 of our pupils have Key Workers for a range of different reasons. Key Workers are either teaching or support staff who have volunteered to act as a pupil’s champion and cheerleader as well as checking in regularly with home to keep everyone in the loop. We also have Academic Mentors who offer one to one support to pupils who need a bit of extra guidance when it comes to making progress.
In addition, we have a Peer Mentoring scheme and are supported by Place2Be and YPAS both of whom offer counselling services.
Also unique is The Foundation@belvedere. This project offers an internal provision for pupils who may find mainstream education challenging at times. Liverpool City Council work alongside us with a programme of Family Help and therapeutic care. The aim is to reintegrate pupils back into mainstream lessons after a few weeks of additional support so that our pupils remain part of the Belvedere community but learn to understand better why school may be difficult for them at that time.
To top this off, we are phone free with all pupils in Years 7 to 11 handing their phones in first thing and not getting them back until the end of the day. The food offered by our canteens is wonderful – from Belvedere Brunch to Wednesday roasts – and we prioritise spending time together through a range of whole school events such as the famous Belve Drama Fest Day, Culture Day and Belvefest.
