Uniform & Equipment Policy – Guidance for Parents
Regulation uniform for students in Years 7 – 11
Blazers
The regulation royal blue Belvedere Academy blazer with crest, which can be purchased from our uniform suppliers. All pupils must wear the academy blazer on the journey to and from the academy, whatever form of transport they use.
Ties
The regulation Belvedere Academy tie, in academy colours, worn traditionally at a visible full length outside of the blouse or shirt, with the top shirt button fastened must be worn by all pupils during school hours when wearing the school shirt.
Blouses and shirts
Regardless of the time of year, pupils can choose between:
A regulation long-sleeved, light blue shirt with top button fastened and tie worn with the skirt/trousers and blazer.
A regulation short-sleeved, light blue open neck shirt to be worn with the skirt/trousers and blazer. No tie is worn with the open neck shirt.
Skirts
Regulation navy blue single pleated skirt, available from our suppliers. Two lengths are available to purchase; *knee length and ankle length. No other skirts may be worn.
*If a knee length skirt is worn, it must be to the knee.
Trousers
Regulation navy blue trousers are available from our suppliers. No other trousers are acceptable.
Tights and socks
Socks or tights should be plain navy blue or black.
Knitwear
The regulation plain navy blue cardigan or plain navy blue pullover with The Belvedere Academy logo on.
Coats and rainwear (Optional)
A plain black or navy blue full-length coat, plain full-length raincoat or black or navy blue regulation cagoule.
No other coats, anoraks, etc, are acceptable in any colour.
N.B. Coats should not be worn around the academy and can be placed in lockers or carried.
School bag
All pupils are expected to carry a school bag. The bag must close to protect stationary, books, and A4 files.
Shoes
Regulation flat, close fitting shoes in all black (no boots or canvas shoes are permitted).
Hair, nails, and jewellery
Belvedere has adopted the Halo Code so students are free to choose how they wear their hair. There will be exceptions and pupils may be asked to tie their hair back for health and safety reasons in certain subjects.
Acrylic nails and nail varnish are not allowed.
One pair of conventionally placed plain ear studs is allowed. For any other piercings, retainers may be worn.
No other jewellery apart from a watch should be worn.
Hijab
If a hijab is worn, under the Halo Code students are free to choose the colour of their hijab. It must be secure for PE lessons.
Scarf (Optional)
A regulation scarf, in The Belvedere Academy colours, available from the academy can be worn.
Physical Education
Compulsory Kit;
Polo Shirt or PE Tee Shirt
Skort, Shorts, Belvedere Tracksuit Bottoms, Belvedere Leggings
Belvedere Quarter Zip Top
Sports Socks, Plain Navy or White – No tights are allowed
Sport Trainers – No Converse or Vans
Optional Kit;
Belvedere Shower Proof Jacket
Plain Navy Base Layer (to be worn under the school Tee Shirt)
Marking
All personal belongings, including blazers, PE kit etc. should be clearly marked with the student’s name.
We have a supply of pre-loved uniform available free of charge at the academy for students. Parents/Carers should contact Reception on 0151 727 1284 for more information.
